One of the things Keller Williams The Trembley Group Real Estate Sales Professionals like most about selling homes in Carolina Forest is it’s a good excuse to eat lunch at some best restaurants in the Myrtle Beach and Grand Strand area. When plans for Carolina Forest were announced twenty years ago, all sorts of commercial businesses started popping up along US 501, near the entrance to Carolina Forest. Everyone wanted to capture a little of the business from more than 20,000 families living in Carolina Forest. There were grocery stores, clothing stores, banks, dry cleaners, hardware stores, and, of course, restaurants.
Today, there are countless restaurants near the entrance to Carolina Forest to choose from. There are all of the usual fast-food joints, chain and locally owned ethnic restaurants, and national chains featuring steak and American classics. For those with a more discriminating palate and a sophisticated taste looking for something other than a burger and fries, there’s the Famous Toastery.
Famous Toastery is a North Carolina-based chain that serves only breakfast and lunch. The Famous Toastery story began in 2005 in Huntersville, N.C. in a small house-turned-restaurant where a couple of best friends opened their first breakfast spot. News of their fresh-made breakfasts and pleasant atmosphere spread.
The Famous Toastery concept quickly grew to three more locations, serving new and returning clients dishes like made-from-scratch portabella mushroom benedict and avocado omelet. Never compromising their fresh-only ingredients and amazing service, the demand for Famous Toastery kept growing. To satisfy pleas for more locations, Famous Toastery evolved into a franchise in 2013.
The Famous Toastery in Carolina Forest is unlike any franchise restaurant most customers have ever visited. It opened to rave reviews in the Fall of 2016 and quickly became known for their excellent freshly prepared food and outstanding service. Centrally located in Carolina Forest, the restaurant is within minutes of 15 golf courses, including Legends, Myrtle Beach National, The Wizard, and Man O’War. Famous Toastery is the perfect place for breakfast before a round or lunch after a round of golf. And the Famous Toastery has quickly become a favorite family dining spot for discriminating Carolina Forest residents.
The benedicts are delicious, with the Cali Benny, featuring avocado, tomato and hollandaise, leading the way. If you want to order breakfast to go on the way to the office, the bagel with bacon, egg, and cheese is as good as any in town. Not exactly Mack’s Diner fare. And the list goes on to include strawberry and cream cheese stuffed French toast. Famous Toastery never compromises its commitment to the freshest quality food.
The lunch offerings are no less appealing. For many loyal Famous Toastery customers, there is a clear favorite, the meatloaf – served with a side of homemade mashed potatoes and gravy. The diner’s palate is always the winner.
When visiting the Famous Toastery patrons are likely to see the owners, Tim and Michelle McGinnis scrambling around. If Tim’s name sounds familiar, it’s because Tim McGinnis was an evening anchor on WPDE for eight years. Tim is an interesting guy, having worked around the country and, as an international correspondent, around the world. A few years ago, Tim and wife Michelle decided to follow their dream and open a restaurant. Now they have more time with their children.
One of the things the couple is most excited about is giving back into their community, which includes creating about 30 new jobs. “This restaurant will not only make our family proud, but it’s giving us an opportunity to employ about 30 people,” Tim McGinnis said. “That’s 30 jobs that weren’t here before and that’s pretty cool.”
When eating at the Famous Toastery, look around and maybe you’ll see a Keller Williams Trembley Group Real Estate Sales Professional. They’re Carolina Forest experts and are always happy to share their knowledge of the area.
